Our commitment
Phonemine is public recycling infrastructure — it should be usable by everyone. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA across phonemine.org, the member portal, and the Phonemine app, and we design our kiosks for step-free, single-hand use.
What we do
- Semantic headings, labeled forms, and keyboard-navigable pages with a “Skip to content” link;
- Text alternatives for meaningful images and icons;
- Color choices checked for contrast, with information never conveyed by color alone;
- Live dashboard data also available as plain text in the activity feed, not only on the map;
- Responsive layouts that support zoom up to 200% and mobile screen readers.
Kiosks
Drop-off requires no account, no app, no screen interaction, and no fee — a single deposit slot at an accessible height. If a kiosk location is difficult for you to access, contact us and we’ll help you find an alternative or arrange another way to recycle your device.
Known limitations
Parts of the live map rely on a third-party mapping library; all kiosk locations shown on the map are also listed as text below it. Some older photos may be missing detailed descriptions — we’re fixing these as we find them.
Feedback
If anything on this site or at a kiosk is hard to use with assistive technology, please tell us — it genuinely helps:
